When You’re Tempted to Quit Too Soon
I’ve been at that point a few times in my life, and agree with Joshua Reich, that the moment of breakthrough is often just another push and prayer away. Great questions here for anyone at any time in their life, but especially when quitting looks so tempting.

The Best Ways to Fund Your Relationship Bank Account
Is your marriage chilling? Has the spark disappeared? Have a think about these short powerful phrases: “Love is friendship on fire” and “Romantic Love = Friendship + Attraction.” Common word? Friendship. Read this article to learn how to “fund your friendship account” and how to intentionally create a healthy culture in your marriage.

If you aren’t intentional about creating a culture in your marriage, then it most often defaults to whatever external circumstances are working upon it. If you’d rather not have a marital culture that’s molded by the vicissitudes of life and the opinions of friends, family, and pop culture, then be deliberate about shaping the following things yourselves.

We’d want to put the Gospel and friendship with Christ at the center of any marriage, of course, but there’s lots of great wisdom and common sense in this article.

Jean Vanier’s ’10 rules for life to become more human’
Another article with some profound observations on life. Vanir is a Roman Catholic and so we’re not taking advice from him on how “to become more Christian.” But these observations come from a lot of life experience and are hard to argue against. I was going to pick out the top three rules but they are all equally good. So read them all and become more human.

Men Have No Friends and Women Bear the Burden

“Toxic masculinity—and the persistent idea that feelings are a “female thing”—has left a generation of straight men stranded on emotionally-stunted island, unable to forge intimate relationships with other men. It’s women who are paying the price. “

This is a fascinating article. It’s written by a feminist who seems to not like men very much. However, it’s helpful to know what’s going on in the wider man culture and how some women are reacting to it. Although the anti-man feminism is obvious, there are probably some truths and facts in the article that would be worth thinking about and discussing with your wife and perhaps in your man’s group too. I’m going to come back to this article with some thoughts in the next week or so, but have at it in the meantime.
